Edith Nagy and Pat Deuling Outfitting holds two bighorn sheep permits in Zone 420 of the Alberta Rocky Mountains.  Our sheep hunting area is located on the Clearwater River drainage located on the eastern boundary of Banff National Park extending east to the Limestone Mountains.

Each hunt is typically 14 days in length (excluding transportation to base camp).  Hunters are met at the Calgary International Airport (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) and transportation to our base camp at the Ya-Ha-Tinda Ranch on the Red Deer River is provided.

From the base camp, hunters are guided on an 8 hour horse-pack trip to our “High Sheep Camp”.  This is a wall-tent camp with wood-stoves provided in each individual hunter’s tent.  A separate cook tent for meal preparation (provided by the outfitters) is also available at the High Sheep Camp.

From the High Sheep Camp, hunters will be guided on daily horse-back trips to hunt the high basins of the Rocky Mountains for the elusive big horn rams with nightly returns to the High Sheep Camp.

Big horn sheep inhabit steep rocky terrain and typically keep to the high ridges as protective measures against predators.  As such, hunts involve a lot of “spot and stop” and can involve strenuous hiking and climbing when encountering terrain that is too precarious for horse travel.

Availability Dates:

Big horn sheep season in Zone 420 is between Sept. 1st to Oct.15th

Wolf is also available.
